Two new hotels opened in Alberta, two with an urban style, but in two different places. Hotel Le Germain Calgary is located at 899 South Centre Street, near the Calgary Tower and the Grand Resort is Rocky mountain road in Canmore.
Metropolitan Hotels is the owner of Big Rock Resort, which opens May 1 The hotel is accepting reservations, and represents the fourth largest metropolitan line. Other hotels are located in Toronto and Vancouver. The new feature is a breed apart from lodging Ski Classic, which tends to look like Swiss chalets, in one form or another. Holly Wood, spokesman for the Metropolitan Hotel, said hotel acknowledges its green mountains, but it is much more modern in its design.
Quebec-based Groupe Germain is a family business that operates hotels in Toronto, Quebec and Montreal. Hotel Le Germain opened the week of February 28.
The two hotels targeted visitors who enjoy the facilities, or who may want to enjoy a few nights of elegant luxury. Great Rockies Resort is lined with cedar and lined with river stones. The interior is lush, with crystal chandeliers and a marble bar. The suites accommodate up to six people. Their fully equipped kitchens include granite countertops, appliances stainless steel plate and bar. Sofa hide Hide-A-beds and the rooms have large flat screen TV and fireplace. A machine, washing machines and dryers to hide in closets. Bathrooms are equipped with luxury shower units. The ballroom can accommodate up to 150 guests. An indoor pool is under construction.
